Do your candles produce black soot?

Over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of questions about whether or not our candles produce black soot so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity for us to write a blog and give everyone the answer.

Here at Fade Candles, all of our candles burn clean and without black soot. How you may ask? We're about to get a bit technical but stay with us.

What produces black soot?

Black soot is produced when a candle contains primarily petroleum-based fuels. This is called petro-carbon soot which is not found in soy wax. Soy wax is completely petro-carbon soot free.

For example, you may have brought a candle from a well-known high street brand (we are not going to mention names) and noticed that whilst burning and after burning, you were left with a black rim at the top of the jar! This is a prime example of petro-carbon soot. This is because the candle is made from paraffin wax.

Paraffin wax produces toxins and also discolours walls and furniture over time

Are there any other factors that help to create black soot?

Yes! The quality of the fragrance added to the candle can also impact the level of soot that is produced. Here at FADE, we use the highest quality scents to complement our 100% natural soy wax so you get the best smelling candle for your home. We also use the highest grade eco wicks so not only do they help the environment, they help to top off what is already a clean-burning, beautiful smelling luxury candle.

We hope that this answers any question you may have had regarding our products but if you do have any other queries, please leave a comment below or contact us here
